Blood pressure, blood glucose, temperature, SpO₂: these basic measurements are among the most common entries in the medical record. Whether on the ward, in home care or at a health check center, readings that don't reach the medical record promptly and accurately become gaps in the patient's story.
The error rate of manual entry
Nurses take dozens of measurements a day and key each one into the system by hand. One mistyped digit means time spent tracking it down and correcting it. Home measurements are harder still, since getting them back to the hospital depends on the patient or family cooperating.
Measured, then synced
Measurement devices with an RS-232 output, such as blood pressure monitors and height and weight scales, can be read by Drive and uploaded to a hospital-designated server, so readings enter the medical record once a measurement completes. At home, patients can take readings with a companion app that sends the data back to the hospital system.
