Dialysis
Hemodialysis runs three times a week, four hours at a time, and involves more than 50 parameters to record: blood flow rate, dialysate flow rate, ultrafiltration volume, blood pressure changes, transmembrane pressure. Paper records can't capture this dynamic data, let alone support quality statistics across sessions.
The limits of paper records
Parameter changes during treatment are never fully captured, so retrospective review depends on what nursing staff happen to remember. Dialysis centers must also report quality indicators to regulators on a regular basis, and compiling them by hand is slow and labor-intensive.
A complete record of every treatment
Drive captures treatment parameters from the dialysis machine every minute and uploads them to a designated server for storage. eMicro's dialysis information system can then produce treatment record summaries and quality indicator reports.
